Dutch Iris Bulbs for Cut Flower Production

Back to main Cut Flower page

There are numbers species of iris that are suitable for cut flower production, however, it is the bulbous iris that are primarily utilized for commercial cut flower production. Out of the bulbous iris group, it is the Dutch Iris bulbs that are most commonly grown in the greenhouse and in the field for cut flowers, and it the Dutch Iris group that we present here.

Dutch Iris bulbs can be forced the entire year, but specific light and temperature requirements must be adhered to, which in fact does limit the locations where year round production is practical. Given proper temperature treatments Dutch Iris can be planted for reliable flowering throughout much of the year.

AVAILABLITY:
The first bulbs are ready for planting by mid October, and for most of the USA reliable cut flower production can be continued to late spring. Schedules and forcing guides are available upon request.

We use all modes of transportation. UPS, FEDERAL EXPRESS, AIRFREIGHT, WILSEY BENNETT TRUCK, M&T TRUCK. Please provide specific shipping instructions. In the absence of instructions we will use our own judgement and ship the best way.
